Music and Movement

Exploring multi-sensory learning strategies for teaching music.

Acquiring Movement Ideas

LOCOMOTOR MOVEMENTS
Crossing the Sand
Each person must move across the floor in a way that is different from the way others have moved.  This helps children acquire new ideas on ways to move.
Moving the body from one place to another   (locomotion) is a  basic movement activity.  Games and activities that help children gain ideas and skills in moving different ways is an excellent preparation for expressive and creative movement.
Strut Miss Mary - Game to help children develop more movement vocabulary
The person in the left line is "Miss Mary'" who initiates a movement.  Her partner in the right line is "the other one" who imitates the movement of "Miss Mary".
